A. Sivathanu Pillai
A Sivathanu Pillai is the chief controller of the Research and Development and also holds the rank of "Distinguished Scientist" at the Defence Research and Development Organisation at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of India.[1] He is also the Chief executive officer and Managing Director of the BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited.[2] He was due to retire on August 2007, but was given a tenured service extension by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.[3][4]
He serves as Vice President of International Project Management Association[5][6] and as Special Secretary representing India in the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation.
Early life and Education
Sivathanu Pillai was born on July 15, 1947 in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. He earned his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from University of Madras in 1969. He then completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School (Class of 1991). He then earned Ph.D. in Technology Management from University of Pune in 1996.[7]

Expansion of Brahmos Aerospace
In 2007, under his leadership as CEO of Brahmos Aerospace, the company bought Kerala Hitech Industries Limited. It has been then converted into Brahmos Aerospace Trivandrum Limited, the second missile making unit of BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited for a world-class missile facility with system integration and testing.
